SAFARI NETS

A Safari Net picks a mob up and puts it in your pocket. Right-click a mob to catch it, right-click the ground to let it out again. Buy it with Coins in /coinshop.

It sounds like a novelty and it is not. Moving a mob is normally a job of pushing it along with a boat for an hour. A net turns that into two clicks, which is why they are part of most serious farm builds.

The two kinds

  • Single-Use does one job and is consumed. You can craft these: eight string around an ender pearl, in the shape of a bucket.
  • Reusable can be used again and again. There is no recipe for it, so the coinshop is where you get one, and it is the better buy the moment you are moving more than a handful of mobs.

What they are good for

  • Moving a villager to your base without a boat and a lot of swearing.
  • Collecting mobs for a farm rather than waiting for them to spawn where you want them.
  • Rescuing a tamed animal. Tamed mobs can be caught, so your horse or your dog can come with you.
  • Getting an iron golem, a pig or anything else awkward from where it is to where you need it.

What they will not catch

  • Players, and the Ender Dragon.
  • Custom bosses. The server bosses are immune, so a net will not shortcut a boss fight.
  • Anything inside land you do not have permission to build on. You cannot catch a mob out of someone else's claim, and you cannot release one into it either.

That last rule protects your own base as much as it restricts you: nobody can net your animals out of your claim.
